Our Process

The Rural Healthcare Sustainability Project aims to develop and deliver a plan to the North Carolina General Assembly that helps achieve rural healthcare sustainability. This plan will present practical solutions and valuable insights to guide decisions on support and investment, addressing the healthcare challenges faced by rural communities across the state.

There is a thoughtful, collaborative and iterative process for the work underway.

Our main goals for this process include:

Obtaining a Comprehensive Overview of Rural Healthcare Delivery

To fully understand the complexities of rural healthcare in North Carolina, we will create a detailed picture of the current healthcare landscape. This will involve conducting qualitative and quantitative research, analyzing data on healthcare resources and outcomes, and gathering feedback from North Carolina residents. By conducting virtual and in-person listening sessions, community surveys, and online panel discussions, we will ensure our solutions are informed by grassroots insights and tailored to the actual needs of rural patients.

Consulting Local Healthcare Experts

We will engage healthcare executives and leaders from across the state to gather input on our initial findings and feasible solutions. Our goal is for these experts to provide insights into what is possible, in progress, and sustainable from an administrative perspective. This collaborative effort will involve local and state leaders and other healthcare decision-makers to shape the future of rural healthcare delivery in North Carolina.

Developing Practical Rural Healthcare Solutions

After analyzing quantitative data, community feedback, and insights from healthcare leaders, we will develop sustainable healthcare recommendations tailored to rural communities. These solutions may include expanding successful programs or introducing new healthcare delivery models. By consulting with healthcare leaders statewide, we will ensure that our solutions are practical, feasible, and sustainable.
